Okay...I have gone to the dark side, but I wanted to go to a camp with my dogs this summer like at Tahoe. I had such a great time at summer camp as a kid and hanging out with a lake and a dog sounds cool. I need some recommendations because I will be a newbie at this.

OOH, I'd love to hear from people that have gone to camp with their dogs! I admit that I also think this sounds like a blast! Have you heard about Dog Scout camp, its located in some Midwest state that starts with an "M"... Michigan, maybe? Can you tell geography isn't my forte? Smiler Anyway, there are tons of different activities to try with your dog AND you can earn badges, just like I did at camp as a kid!

I think there is Camp Winnaribbun in Tahoe. I read about them in a magazine. Here's their website: http://www.campw.com/

Have fun!

I had thought about Camp Winnaribbun near Lake Tahoe. Does anyone have first-hand experience of going there? It's not cheap but if it's worth it, I'd like to know.

I know several people who have gone to Camp Winnaribbun and they say depending on the people who sign up the week you do, you could have a great or not so great experience. Apparently because the housing is done in tent barracks in bunkbeds. That makes sense. I guess for that price, I would want a little more privacy?

I've been to Camp Winnaribbun 8 times now - yes, the cabins have barrack type bunks, but they are cabins with electricity, not tent type. Want more privacy? You can stay off-site and deduct $150 from your fee.
I love it, have never had a bad experience. There are 3 sessions, June, August and September. The Sept. is most crowded, around 80 people, over 100 dogs. June is least crowded, maybe 25 people and 35 dogs.
The meals are wonderful!!!!
