What's the matter, the fireman doesn't want to work? Typical, can't have things to high in your warehouse, can't store empty boxes, can't have an extension cord it goes on and on. About time the people have spoken!
I never got the fireworks thing, it seems like a waste of money and inevitably causes an injury and a fire.
I do know it costs a fortune to put out a fire or sew a finger back on. Much more money than is raised for the non profits by the sale of them.
Besides where the hell else can children buy incendiary devices and explosives?
I know from when I lived in RP that the poorer the neighborhood the more it looked like Beirut on the 4th. A, B and C sections were the worst. It must have something to do with the types of folks.
The Chinese are the only winners in the deal.. but hey what's new.
Well, tell those foks who lost their homes to LEGAL fireworks a few years back in Santa Rosa that these things are safe. I feel sorry for the fire chief hwo is trying to protect the city and these idiots tell him how to do his job. Shame on them and shame of the wholesalers who make far more month off fireworks than the kids could ever hope to make. Dumb people deserve what they get.

You're saying "homes" but it was one "home." Singular. And personally, I think the two dumbasses who threw the smoke bomb into the dry field should spend the rest of their lives working to pay back the family whose home they destroyed. Leave the rest of us alone who exercise proper caution when using safe and sane fireworks.
Harpman is right. Safe and sane fireworks are unnecessarily tame. Nonetheless, this represents a victory over the Nanny State and those who want to defer to the self-serving "experts" who are constantly trying to tell the public that it is too incompetent to light sparklers ("fireworks are best left to the 'professionals'") use a gun in self-defense ("vigilante tactics"), or use the initiative process to overrule a city council that is controlled by special interests ("taking the law into your own hands").
The public is not as incompetent as the government bureaucrats want the public to believe it is. It is simply that the public has a conflicting set of values and conflicting interests.
