RE: Link
There you go Ukiah voters keep your heads stuck firmly in the ground, who wants jobs and progress when welfare is the answer |

Way to Go.. The one thing the Ukiah area needs are good paying jobs, not a bunch of minimum wage jobs. This is what the out of stste developers were offering in the way of employment opportunities for area residents. The passage of this measure would have paved the way for future bypassing of the county's planning and zoning processes. I'm so proud of you Mendocino voters for doing the RIGHT thing.

Way to go MENDOCINO COUNTY voters! The last things Ukiah needs are big boxes outside the incorporated area that the city will still be responsible to provide services for despite receiving no sales tax revenues. There is plenty of developable land already zoned commercial in Ukiah. This measure was a deceitful ploy by out of state developers that didn’t have the capital to develop the property themselves and only wanted to rezone it so they could resell it.
Thank you MENDOCINO COUNTY voters for helping to protect Ukiah’s downtown local merchants from predation by out of town developers, and out of town investors. DDR makes Wal-Mart look downright respectable (Wal-Mart pays their city taxes and didn’t try any end around hocus-pocus around the planning commission). ________________ “When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less.” “The question is”, said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.” “The question is” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master. That is all”. - Lewis Caroll |

Good job Mendo!
There's another lesson to be relearned here, and that is the power of the voter. The David and Goliath fable rings true again. We, the voters, can change the direction of local, state and federal government. We can fight back against corrupt, greedy unions and the special interests that are ruining our way of life. If Ukiah wants "good paying jobs," they must create incentives for businesses that qualify for providing for these types of jobs to come to their area. Sadly, the wonderful members of the Legislature (hey---they are merely reflecting the liberal attitude that "profit" is a dirty word) have created legislation that "rewards" high-salary businesses if they come to California via high taxes, high legal costs and horrendous regulations. Therefore, such business go elsewhere. They would be crazy not to. In the past couple of decades, thousands of businesses have left the state, taking along many of their employees. The Phoenix area blossomed by welcoming businesses such as Intel, Honeywell and many others. Intel recently refused to construct a manufacturing plant in California and our laws reflected the reasons why: horrendous regulations, legal costs and high taxes. If citizens of such cities as Ukiah wants "high-paying" job sources, they need only to look at the anti-business policies that permeate the thinking of those State senators and assembly persons we have been electing year after year. |
