Great example of why this country is falling apart.
Special interests make them put wheel chair ramps on non existent highway overpass walkways....
For the money they spend they could afford a limousine for every wheelchair bound person and a chauffeur.
It is BS!
And you voted the politicians in.....

I have no problem with needing disabled access. I had a family member who needed a wheelchair for a period of time.

What I do have a problem with is this being a federal government unfunded mandate.

The fed's did some sort of audit and determined this all had to be done. Fine. The fed's can pay for it then. They seem to be able to afford everything else lately.

If the fed's won't pay for it, tell them to go take a hike.

Have you noticed that Osama Bin Laden and Barack Obama both have friends that have bombed the Pentagon?

I lost part of my driveway due to stupid laws regarding wheelchair access. Did I mention I paid for it? I'm still waiting for them to use the sidewalk. But alas, they use the street instead. Perhaps it's time to license them.

You drive a Saturn, you are poor you are a loser.

I hope you lose the use of your arms and legs.

Disabled persons are much more than .05 percent of the population. The official figures are 20 percent of Americans suffer disabilities which seriously interfere with major life functions. I am a disabled person, and desperately need these accommodations to live. These are violations that Santa Rosa SHOULD NEVER HAVE ALLOWED because they were against the law at the time, and/or which should have been fixed YEARS AGO. It's going to cost money because Santa Rosa didn't do what the law required in the first place. The fault is Santa Rosa's, not the federal government or disabled people or the ADA. You can blame the city of Santa Rosa. Don't blame disabled people or the ADA. The violations were much more serious and significant than "a few inches".

They're not stupid laws, and people like me need them to LIVE. Please think about someone other than yourself.

They're not ramps, they're curb cutouts, and they are put there for access to routes that are planned.

Take a look and start counting the dollars that are wasted on stuff. I had a new office that was not approved because I didn't have a $40 dollar insulation on the sink drain.
What for?
So that if the water heater ever got stuck on, AND the pressure value didn't work, AND some person in a wheel chair, pulled up AND was able to get underneath the sink, wouldn't possible have his legs get scalded.....
That was just one example.
In the 20 years that we were in that building, not one person rolled up into our office suite, let alone into our bathroom that was for non visitors.
Mass examples of waste of money that are extorted by every business man, adds up. They you wonder why small business can not afford to do business in California. I could go on for hours about other arbitrary stupid money wasters for a relatively small group of people.
If your figures for disabled people include the "New Disabilities" like overweight (fat) people, or other disabilities, the new politically correct crap is putting a disservice to the people that are really disabled and do require consideration!

Can anyone tell me what those bumpy yellow panels cropping up everywhere on the streets of Petaluma are? I have heard several different answers but still don't know. Thank you.

There is a THRIVING shakedown business attacking one inch variations from the standard...at $1,000 a "violation" so called "advocates" are making a ton of money on these shakedowns. The law reads as if every disable person is exactly the same size, which is ridiculous, (ie. how far the reach to the toiler paper roll, the exact slopes of bathroom floors etc.)

Here's just one example in thousands of a business that literally has to close its doors due to a lawsuit:
