JCT Confirms Failure to Comply with Democrats’ Mandate Can Lead to 5 Years in Jail

Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail. The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain “acceptable health insurance coverage” and who choose not to pay the bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years

This is all about one thing,and that is the public option.It is their "glittering jewel.Without the need to show a profit or in government's case take a loss they can squeeze out the private sector.THEN, they can fully regulate and control every aspect of our lives.If they cant get the public option they wont give a rat's ass about the rest...

Instead of mandating the purchase of health insurance just remove the requirement that hospitals treat people if they don't have insurance or cash up front.

If they don't buy the health insurance and can not afford the procedure let them do without. If they die it is by their choice alone. The progressives need to quit controlling our lives and allow people to make their own choices and allow them to reap the benefits or pay the consequences of their actions.

Has anyone figured why they are voting today and tomorrow? Veterans Day and of course Thanksgiving are approaching.

Pelosi and the other yahoos do not want the representatives going home for the long breaks as they will get another earfull from the voters.

If this is passed today or tomorrow I hope that the Senate kills it...if not we are in for real problems and socialism is only one of them.

The consumption of animal corpses is a greater health risk to our society and costs us far more than even tobacco products. Perhaps we should look at taxing meat products as a way to help pay for the health care bill!

Spoken like a true progressive liberal. If that were the case people like me would grow their own meat, butcher it themselves and share it with their friends for donations.

I would never pay that tax and I would still have meat on the table every day. So F**K YOUR OPPRESSIVE TAX.

I would be FOR health reform if it were not for the progressives. It will just be another excuse for them to intercede in every aspect of our lives and make new rules and taxes to punish us into being like them. It is people like you that make me oppose this program even though if it were run without the progressives it would be beneficial to the country.
