RE: Link

and all area private well users that depend on underground aquifer's to survive shudder at the prospects of what Santa Rosa can do to their water supplies when sucking 4 million gallons per day per set of wells. worse yet at the end of the same day they'll also approve continued development that will result in an even greater need for the same limited water available for everyone.

"because of government fewer Americans today know their neighbors last name let alone their first" - said a lad walking north on Bohemian Hwy. not far from Occidental.

How about constructing a wall to keep all the drug dealers and addicts out of Doyle park?

Welcome to Sonoma County!

The only place in the world where you have to explain to your child what a crack ***** is when you go to a playground.

When they drilled my well in Petaluma a few years ago they pulled up a huge pile of sea shells at a depth of 300 feet.
It would be interesting to see what they pull up at 1000 feet!

"The cost of the test borings, along with any costs to develop a production well, would be financed through rates paid by the city’s more than 45,000 water customers."

I sure hope this includes the vast, lush wineries I drove past the other day.

Will any artist paint the wall like El Barto?

Prinz said each test boring costs $350,000 to $500,000. While the test holes have fallen short of production levels, Prinz said most will be turned into small wells that can be used to irrigate surrounding parkland.

THIS IS INSANE!

All this simply because our county so-called leaders refuse to admit that Sonoma County is overbuilt by 20%, that the SCWA cannot fully supply our water needs in a year followed by less than much higher than average rainfall and that over-pumping of water out of our aquifer has severly damaged it.

So PD, how about an article that Rohnert Park is actually sinking due to their pumping of ground water has lowered the aquifer level over 100 feet?

Water will be the next "issue" that will tax and burden the tax payer because government management has their head up their behind.
Thousands of wells lay sealed since it is illegal to use the water that has been there since the construction of those homes, meanwhile tract homes are popped up, without regard for where the water will come from. The you burden the existing base with new fees and taxes, not putting reasonable regulation on water use, then a knee jerk reaction will then punish all.
Composting toilets work and they are not that expensive, water harvesting for irrigation work, you remember the rain barrel?
You live in a city boundary you will get the brunt of the punishment. Poor planning, period!

There is definite evidence of land subsidence from satellite photos. Local governments are controlled by the building industry. This area is already overpopulated. We see this every day in traffic, water shortages, crime, destruction of open space, and people becoming devalued because there are simply so many. We need to disempower the building industry and force local governments to act in our interests.

Santa Rosa drains the river of fresh water and replaces it with fecal matter and other poisons.
Now we have a river that fish can't live in and people can't use.
When Santa Rosa officials crow about their environmental efforts it makes me want to puke in their swimming pools.
Let's get real leaders involved at the local level who actually care about the environment enough to stop destroying it.

Why does no one talk about the overarching problem: overpopulation?

I wonder how many of the posters have children and how many. We have to look at ourselves to solve this problem, not blame the government, as it IS us.

If they are customers of the city they will, if not they will not and should not...is that not clear for you? Or should would you support paying some of their bills as you are asking that they do for you?
