He should move that little couch and get himself a hospital bed. If he dosen't have the insurance to pay for in home care, don't worry amigo, we'll pay for it. So said the Lib.

Mr. Lopez.......one thing I noticed from your picture.....you can not sit on a low sofa or chair like that with a broken hip! Either double the cushions on the sofa, or put a couple of firm pillows down where you are sitting. Preferably a recliner so you can put your feet/legs up......just build up your chair or sofa before you sit...you are pulling and straining your fracture!

I agree Joey, someone needs to make his home more comfortable while he is recovering

Falling 2,000 feet from red banks would mean he fell all the way down avalanche gulch, past the heart and almost to Helen Lake. This fall would take several minutes. Perhaps the reporter meant two hundred feet?

Yeah, it was 200 feet but 2,000 feet sounded like a better story. lol

I can't believe that Mexicans are now taking mountaineering jobs from Americans.

When will it stop?

Wake up white people.

You ARE kidding, right? Otherwise, I'd have to say something rude. Like: As a fully white NON-mountaineer I say let anyone climb, I don't see YOU up there. As to his helicopter ride, he'll get about a $10,000 bill for it, more or less. Quit being a racist do-nothing who just makes ignorant comments on a low circulation newpaper.

Another point: My father would spin in his grave to see his life's work reduced to the mostly regional picture of immigration in America. And the foolish bias some have while making armchair comments of just what they see and read now. Go to the library, (that's the big building with books) and read up on the Cold War in Europe. Then hug a Mexican.

is that photo REALLY him 'just before he fell'? WHY does he talk about trying to stop his slide with his crampons and NO MENTION OF ICE AX. Haven't used it/ice climbed BUT I know ICE AX is basic climbing gear. Did he drop it? Forget it? Was he sharing it with his buddy? Unbelievable he wasn't using it for self-arrest (no, not for illegal entry, self-arrest to stop his sliding). And, uh, reporter, did you think to ask about it?
Or know to ask? heh heh heh heh the shadow nose.

What an ordeal! I cannot imagine the fear one would experience while plummeting 2,000 feet!

What I also cannot imagine how the PD continues to publish articles with such careless mistakes! The below paragraph incorrectly uses the word "site" instead of "sight". Please hire reporters who know the difference.

Rios 90-minute descent was the start of what would be “the worst night of my life,” Lopez said, broken only by the site of a rescue helicopter
