RE: Link
I thought Ravitch was more right leaning? Now she seems that she's MORE LEFT LEANING than Passalaqua. |

So, Passalacqua has made no career ending mistakes and that's why the Board of Supervisors endorses him?
Show me the man who has made no mistakes and I'll show you the man who has done nothing. That's Passalacqua. "Competent" is just not good enough. I can't believe he's trying to take credit for crime reduction. The only way he's responsible for that is by failing to prosecute most of the time - surprise - "less" crime. Ravich is leaps and bounds a better attorney. Passalacqua is just another politician. There's just no way Somona County is going to settle for mediocrity. The police just can't come out against the DA. They foolishly think the DA will retaliate and not pursue justice for them if they buck him. Isn't that sad? That's what they thing of him: He'll get revenge on us if we don't support him politically. Pathetic. He has that endorsement on the strength of rubber stamping every police shooting and brutality case that comes by his desk. Passalacqua is a POLITICIAN. We need a real prosecutor like Ravich. Get your bags packed Stephan. You're about to be booted out of office. |

Sure would be nice to see some new blood in these races--tired of reruns

I don't care if she's left or right leaning. Unless she starts prosecuting Republicans, I'm voting for Jill Ravitch.
I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me. |

Voting for "none of the above."
Having the city council behind you is no compliment in my opinion. Look at the way they have ruined our fair city, the messes with the police dept., and voting SR a Sanctuary City. Not much of an endorsement! As far as politics goes, neither of them are very far to the right, so you lefties are in good company either way it goes. |

Ravitch better take a leave of absence from Mendo to run. There is no way she can work full time there and run for DA here. If she does, someone up there is not watching the clock very well.

The voters need to look at how Jill Ravitch has handled her job as Deputy DA in Mendo County. Her handling of the Aaron Vargas case has many people outraged. Aaron is charged with killing the man who sexually abused him and others for many years. Here is a quote from a news article, "During Friday’s preliminary hearing, Ravitch dismissed testimony about the molestation as “self- serving” and objected to it as irrelevant. But for McNeill's victims and their families, the abuse is anything but insignificant." Ravitch was taken off this case just weeks before announcing her run for DA. The Mendo DA's office tried to get a judge to order the website saveaaron.com (which had negative comments about Ravitch) to be taken down.

Defense attorneys support Ravitch? Time to vote for the other evil.

I recommend that anyone really interested in this race talk to their family, friends and neighbors who deal with or have dealt with the candidates. Don't rely totally on what you read or rumors, get a good cross section of opinion from people who you respect and then make your decision.
|

I am suggesting that they talk to folks who deal with them more frequently than socially or at some fund raiser. What are they made of? What can they do for our community? As for endorsements, they are political in nature and in this race, are all over the place. Just because two big time defense attorneys are supporting Ravitch doesn't mean she is going to be soft on crime. It's also not surprising that the BOS are supporting their employee!

Here are the questions to ask Ravitch..
Are you in bed with, and working in/for the best interests of, your pals in the wine industry? Do you prosecute and investigate ALL sexual assaults and rapes, and prosecute ANY OF THEM other than the one's committed by 'gang members'? Can you sleep at night, knowing that you are doing the best possible job, honestly and fairly for the voters--and the victims--that you are in office to serve? Passa has FAILED in all of these areas. I will be delighted to see him OUT on his sorry, sorry a**...June cannot come fast enough. |
||||
|
I find Passalacqua's most prominent failing to be the abysmal mishandling of the Matthew Toste murder. That was a critical, watershed case, and it was completely screwed up.
On the other hand, endorsements for a DA candidate from defense attorneys like Andrian raise a bright, scarlet red flag or two for me. These two are the only choices we have? :-( |
||||
|
What Ravitch seems to be leaving out of her campaign is that she was a criminal defense attorney in Santa Rosa at one time. She claims to be tough on crime and to not be swayed by politics, but from what I know, that couldn't be further from the truth.
Attorney: Jill R. Ravitch Firm: Julia Freis Address: 509 7th Street Suite 201 Santa Rosa, California 95401 Phone: (707) 528-7800 Areas of Practice: Criminal Defense Law Traffic Violations |

It is sad that Ravitch or Passalacqua is the best Sonoma County can get to run for DA. Stephan takes YEARS to make decisions, and they're all based on politics. The first question is always "How will the public respond?"
Ravitch is not any better, just another self serving side of the same political coin. What we need is a real prosecutor to step forward and run. Otherwise, regardless of who wins the election, we're in for another 4 years of mediocrity. |

Outreach to address the scum. Right. That has always worked. Maybe they'll start some midnight basketball teams and have the bad little childrens paints theys murals of Cesar Chavez, Malcom X, Che Guevera, Sixpack, Smally Big, MLK and little sea crabs and rainbows and whales.
