RE: Link

Are the police racist? For an in depth opinion, let's ask a member of LULAC, one of the most racist organizations in the country. Who the hell does this idiot think he's kidding? And how can the PD run a column like this, just days after another American was run down and killed by an illegal driver in Sonoma County? Yeah, we need to shed a tear for those poor Latinos who suffered the shame of getting a citation. But the woman who was killed? The hell with her.

I wish I could buy this paper and fire this guy. The only thing he does is play the Latino Race Card, week after week.

Race seems to be a convenient red herring to drag around but misses a point that is worth mention. "Hispanic" is a construct that isn't that old in the lexicon. Puerto Ricans are not necessarily from the same racial stock as the Guatemalans, Cubans or those (not considered "Hispanic") from the Phillipines.

The common thread is that those "Hispanic" places are all former Spanish colonies. The one thing they share for certain is that corruption is not only accepted but is woven into the fabric of every day life. If you don't bribe a cop, you go to jail. This is the opposite of what usually takes place in other cultures.

The Spaniards, who brought us the inquisition, did a bang-up job of corrupting (seemingly forever) any place where they placed their flag in the sixteenth century and beyond.

I'm open for hearing from anyone who can name a former Spanish colony, where that culture remains intact, that isn't hopelessly corrupt from the top down and the bottom up. Any takers?

Ole!

"Maybe this was just an attempt to generate revenue for the city by picking on people who, it was assumed, wouldn’t complain."

What a laughable statement.

They complain about everything.......evidenced by all the marches & protests they stage.......
