Despite the one statistic cited in this article abour felons purchasing ammo, (which was proven to be false, the dealer wasn't licensed) this bill is terrible. It creates an unnecessary burden on the thousands of law abiding gun owners in this state.
It will drive prices up when gun shops pass the extra fees on to the customer, and creates another illegal database. This, of course, is what the gun grabbers want. By the way, in every place this has been tried in the state (Sac), it's been a dismal failure. RE: Link |

Looks like Maria just got even with Arnie for making her apologize for driving & talking on her cell phone.
Just another case of our leadship showing what liars they are, & the lack of cajones they possess. If it's the criminals they are worried about having guns & ammo, why don't they go after the criminals? Seems like it wouldn't be too far fetched that this law could be declared unconstitutional, limiting our ability to conduct business via the internet. I just gotta wonder, what's next? I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me. |

.....requires vendors to maintain a record including the name, driver’s license number & right thumb print of anyone purchasing handgun ammunition. The records are subject to inspection by law enforcement agencies.
Unless I'm missing something here, I fail to see how this does anything to keep ammo out of the hands of criminals because unless there's a waiting period imposed, ID & a thumb print at the time of sale means squat. Having the records available might help LE to identify a criminal but that will be after the fact and by then, the damage will have already been done. _________________________ Stand up for what you believe in.......even if you have to stand alone. |

This law does NOTHING to stop criminals from getting ammo. The liberal press just doesn't get it. criminals don't obey the law! Criminals can drive across the state line and buy all of the ammo they want, or they can steal it. The liberals will never be happy until only the criminals have the guns and the ammo.

I'm just making a wild guess here, but all the paperwork & regulations aren't keeping the guns out of the hands of criminals, why do our illustrious legislators believe the same laws are going to do any better at keeping ammo out of the hands of the criminals? Isn't that supposed to be the sign of some kind of mental illness when you keep making the same mistake over & over, & expect a different outcome? I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me. |

Yup. Watch "Red Dawn" again to see exactly what the Left in America have in mind. Or go back and see how Ray Nagin (D) had his thugs to round up the guns from the law-abiding folks hit by Hurricane Katrina, leaving the good folks vulnerable to roving gangs of bandits. That IS what they want! If you are Americans, Democrats ARE your enemies. They prove it again and again. Live Free |

If they really want to stop gun violence, make the use of a gun in ANY crime a life time sentence with no possibility of parole. Build the prisons to hold them and enforce the existing laws.

As long as self defense is not a crime, that may be okay.
I prefer to have no gun laws except prohibition of arms to violent felons, since predatory criminals are not affected by them anyway. Gun laws hinder the law-abiding Citizen, giving dominance of force to the predatory criminals. It's like that last scene in "Clockwork Orange", with the government official feeding the violent criminal like a mama bird feeding a chick. That IS what the Democrats/Leftists want - to empower violent criminals and force the good people to beg for government protection. Live Free |

When they make self defense a crime, the end is nigh.

Ask yourself why that little La Raza punk drafted this legislation in the first place. You think he and his gang-bleeper cronies give a rat's ass about the safety of California citizens? Hispanics in government are there for one reason and one reason only: to further the agenda of The Race and the drug cartels.

Let's see, felons broke the law to become felons. They broke the law when they then got a gun. But they're not going to break this one? If a record is going to helps police track down criminals, criminals are not going to leave a record. If they catch a criminal with this law its going to be one of the idiots that rob banks with a money demand written on the back of one of their checks.
Bigdogrdr is correct, this is a mental illness. The more likely effect, which I believe is the actual intention of the law, is that it will be such a pain to sell ammunition, more stores will stop selling it. Note to self: check out feasibility of gun shop in Nevada. On the border. . . . |

11,000+ rounds of ammunition sounds like a lot, doesn't it? This is ammunition of all types, of course. Center fire rifle ammunition is sold in boxes of 20 rounds. .22 ammunition is sold in boxes of 50 or cartons of 500. Shotgun shells are sold in boxes of 25. Handgun ammunition is usually sold in boxes of 50 rounds. Therefore, if all the ammo sold to disqualified individuals was center fire rifle ammunition and each bought one box the largest number of disqualified individuals to whom ammunition could have been sold is actually about 550.
|
||||
|
Probably less than 200. Most people buy more than one box at a time. |
