One of the "truth stretching" that the recall advocates want you to believe is that George kept the citizens of Cotati from voting for a 1/2 cent tax hike. One of the things they "forgot" to tell you is that there was actually no vote on this issue. What George voted against was the Council declaring a "State of Financial Emergency". The council had to pass this first in order to even consider a vote to add the sales tax to the ballot. His postition is that we haven't passed a budget, how can we know if we have an emergency to add a tax increase. By the time the council, again with George opposed, passed a budget that is $250,000 in the RED, it was too late to add the tax increase measure to the ballot..
Yes, George's council wage is on the books waiting for him. He was told by city legal experts that they cannot take the money back, it has to stay in holding. He has asked that it go into the general fund to pay city vendors, again he was told this cannot be done. The recall fanatics stretch and distort the facts so badly, I don't think they can remember all their stories anymore....Be at the Park tomorrow for the NO ON RECALL BBQ, SATURDAY NOV 7.
