I only have a couple Questions?? There are so many Rumors out there.....So why did Jake get discharged from the military? I heard it was from shooting a un armed civilian....Then he hit a girl twice at the tip top once back in FB. Then a DUI, then he has held or shown a gun to two others that I know of. The text messeges that were sent to amy about a gun prior, So really what is the truth here....family keeping it a secret? I mean he got out for shooting someone.....hello do you need another sign? This is my sadness for this case. We all don't want to believe that he could do something like this yes. But he was doing it in the Army so Ptsd is not really to blame here....I have been really thinking about this case it is a weird one.....Don't get me wrong by all means Amy had her things too. If broken up then why hang out with him. Has another boyfriend in chico? Just got caught for cheating with a married man....Ok but I think that the things about blaming someone eles or just saying it is a accident. please all the signs were there. So take what you will from this but if they are all rumors please say something becuase they don't need to keep going around.
I and not starting anything but so tried of the rumors so I am stepping up to find the truth.

I'm not saying this is the cause, but it is a possibility.

PTSD often occurs while a person is still in combat. In WW11 and Korea it was called "Kill crazy". Sometimes people just snap. It is largly caused from being hyper alert for long periods of time and not being able to relax. A lot of these guys are in the field for prolonged periods and are never safe. They sleep with one eye open and never trust anyone or any situation that they can't control.

Killing the unarmed civilian could have been the result of and the beginning of PTSD. The drinking, brandishing weapons, abuse and other traits are definatly symptoms.

PTSD is not an excuse for commiting crimes and people are responsible for their actions. It was his responsibility to seek out help, there is plenty of help available. I'm just saying that this could be an explanation for what happened.

For those familys that have Vets returning to the world, watch their behavior, don't be their co dependants and get them help if you see that they are unstable. Nightmares, disassociation (stareing off into space), violent outbursts, stress over sounds and smells that remind them of combat (like the smell of diesel fuel) and flashbacks (finding them hunkered down and hyper alert like they are in a combat situation) are sure signs of distress. GET THEM HELP! IT COULD PREVENT SUICIDE OR MURDER OR BOTH.

A message from Jacob's mom - who I have told not to even go to this site and/or read the comments. She is grieving enough and in enough pain without people speculating and spreading rumors. First of all - Jake was NOT DISHONORABLY DISCHARGED - here are his mother's words on that:

There have also been rumors of Jake beating a buy, NOT TRUE - he was trying to break a fight up and pulled someone off and told them "that's enough" - things are getting way out of control here. Please don't speculate and spread rumors - these families are having a hard enough time without having to deal with a bunch of rumors and speculations! Let them grieve in peace! Thank you - send positive energy to these families and prayers, they're are going to need them for a long time to come!
