Since when did Sonoma County stop being "Wine Country and become "the West Coast's gay vacation playground"? Since the county of Sonoma started advertising it as such: Link

Born and raised here, I wasn't aware that Sonoma County had changed their focus or advertising.

Sounds like some homosexuals got their hands on the sonomacounty.com website...

Sonoma county has NOT changed it's advertising focus. One look at the website makes that obvious. You clicked on the 13th selectable link on the menu that gave you a brief one paragraph stating the area is gay friendly.

Well, not at your house, but mostly everywhere else.

"Homophobe" is what homosexuals and their codependents call anyone who comes against shameless homosexual self-promotion and the promotion of homosexuality.

Blacks don't do that. Women don't do that. No other minorities shamelessly promote their behavior to others or try to intimidate people into calling abnormal behavior 'normal'.

I come against the obsession with Self and the obsessive thinking that drives the homosexual mind because I know there is a way to fix that dysfunctional thinking.

On one of the long flights, either to the Midwest or East coast one of the air line mags had a story about Guerneville as the gays vacation spot. I was shocked to see this, but it's what we have know about for years. May 5 or 10 years ago.

Then there is a gay bike tour of Northern California. Ride along the giant redwoods.

So what? So Guerneville is gay friendly. Sonoma county is liberal, so get over it.

Funny, right now I think if you asked Sonoma County business owners, they would say send us visitors - Gay or Straight - because they could use the income. I too remember Gurneville going from family vacation resort town, to a run down hippie-biker-welfare town, back to a gay dominated cleaned-up resort town, thanks to the infusion of cash and effort largely by people from the gay community.

Gay people have been productive members of society for millennia, and in many case were and are so in anonymity, because of the social and physical threats associated with their life style. Even now there are innumerable people who would be SHOCKED to find out that their doctor, minister, lawyer, best friend, Uncle or Aunt, is gay and they just had not revealed it.

Of course, in their mind that's OK, because they had the decency to keep it quiet. That, unfortunately is not too funny, it's sadly funny.

Gurneville way back in the mid-90s was the *residential* gay/alternate mecca of our county! I clearly remember driving through there at night with my father to pick up a used computer as a naive college kid, and going VERY wide-eyed at seeing "out" gay/lesbian couples. The fellow selling the computer was quite flaming, but I was much more interested in his explanation of how the computer could use two monitors at once because it had been used at a 911 call center.

Personally, I'm lacking in any urge to have a mate or produce/raise kids. In all honesty, straight people are far more blatant about flaunting what they are in both regards.

Dr. Dad -- you have me curious whether your ADHD/OCD notation means that you have the conditions, or have contact with those who do.... If you have it, I must note as an openly Autistic person that it would be hypocritical to expect gay people to treat their sexuality as a shameful secret without treating our minds the same way. Particularly as there's seemingly no Autism, ADHD, or OCD in healthy non-human animals, yet plenty of gay/lesbian creatures -- and odd neurology is far more of a natural 'handicap' in any society than which gender one finds attractive.

Sonoma County isn't that liberal or as gay friendly as one would think. There's tons of conservatives here, and when we're NOT banned by the Pee Dee we're the majority on the board.
