Some people think this game is for people too young to drive. Or those who can't get a license. Last month some poor kids in Rohnert Park went tearing through a suburban/school neighborhood at 80 mph-plus, and one of them was killed. Were games like this to blame?

jediknight, Yes, I am frustrated. There's all sorts of bullshit going on with my life. I'm a gamer, and all this horseshit annoys me.

Parents don't always provide the game, to start.
Plus, a parent would have to be pretty damn stupid to buy their kid a Game marked as Mature. It's like letting a little kid watch An R rated horror movie with tons of killing and blood.
Money? Not all the time, man. Console? Kids often have to save up their money. What parent is going to buy their kid a $600 gaming console (PS3). Or even a $350 one (360)? Those are the only platforms GTAIV comes on.
TV? Sure. That matters how?

Electricty has nothing to do with it. Non sequiturs annoy me, and you just dropped in a couple.

The blame is on the kids being idiots. I personally think violent video games are boring- The most violent one I own is likely Metroid Prime Hunters.

Wal-Mart, Target, etc. all have their games behind some weird ass glass case. You have to fetch an employee and then have them unlock it and give you the game. And they won't give some underage kid an M rated game.

Maturity? What's Immature is thinking swearing is bad. If you can't handle swearing, YOU are immature by saying swearing is bad.

Seriously, how is "****" more profane than "poop"?

Gaming isn't to blame, it's the brain damage of the kids who do that ****.

Just a little frustrated I guess. Parents provide the money, the game, the console, the television, and the electricity (or at least a few of those) so some of the blame should rest accordingly. That being said, kids are pretty resourceful and pretty dumb at the same time. They will figure out how to get the things they want and they will continue to do dumb things.

Problem with your post though. I'd be suprised if it lasts the day, leaving others to look at some toxic ramblings from some 5150. Show some maturity, clean up your post, leaving your valid thoughts and opinions.

-sigh-

I flippin hate this, as a gamer. VIDEO GAMES ARE NOT TO BLAME FOR DIPSHIT KIDS.

If those kids with a brain the size of a bread crumb decided to go tearing through Rhonert Park at over 80 MPH, It has nothing to do with video games- ITS THEM. THEIR BRAIN DAMAGE.

So, what next? Super Mario Bros. makes kids step on turtles and throw their shells, eat flowers, and preform animal abuse?
Yeah, no.

Does Kingdom Hearts II encourage kids to go around riding a skateboard without a helmet?

Does Code Lyoko (cartoon) encourage kids to go explore abandoned factories and turn on random things?

Does Super Smash Bros. make kids beat eachother up?

No. No on all of them. For gods sake, you could even say some cutesy little kids game such as Dewy's Adventure for the Wii encourage bad ****!

It's all a matter if you're a brain-dead fucknut like Jack Thompson.

pressdemo_reg, go eat your ass. Ban video games?
Are you fucking stoned?

Video games don't do jack **** to cause violence in real life- It's the morons that do it.

Mario Kart, F-Zero, or a NASCAR game could cause this alleged accident in Rohnert Park the topic starter mentioned just as much as GTA could.

Oh, and dipshit who started this topic, It's not for people who aren't able to get a lisence- IT'S RATED M FOR MATURE FOR ****'S SAKE! They won't even fuckin sell the damn game to anyone under 17!

Fucknuts who say video games cause this ****, go eat **** out of a buffalo's anus.

From my blog on;
"suicide homicide biochemistry crime"

Excerpts

In general, the following is theory and research from
my own observations and experiences.

The "Threshold Point" of the "Fight or Flight Response" can be
altered by diet and nutritional supplements *as well as toxic
chemical exposures.

This corresponds with "Homicide - Suicide". And if
only the behavioral conditioning responses are dealt
with (from violence in movies, PTSD symptoms, and or
other factors) that predispose the responses, a reduction
in homicide may very well result in an increase in
suicides.

To re-state this. Reducing the violence in movies to
reduce the "predisposition to violence" may very well
result in a reduction of murder. With a corresponding
increase in suicide if the "thresh hold point" at which an
individual enters into becoming suicidal - homicidal are
not addressed and or corrected.

This should also hold true with symptoms of PTSD and
other psychological "symptoms" of various mental health
conditions. Including "Domestic Abuse" and other violent
crimes. Even so far as "Police Brutality" and "bad judgment calls"
with the use of "Deadly Force".

Even when there is "police brutality",
why should law enforcement be immune to a
"Warlock's Brew" of "Cumulative Toxic
Chemical Insults ?

Could the threshold point at which a police officer decides
to use deadly force be altered by toxic chemical exposures,
regardless of their training ?

Even so, there are "other factors" that impact such situation
with law enforcement in what I believe to be a much greater
scale.

What do you think might happen if
an individual that is suicidal
and homicidal were to meet up with a
policeman that in edge like a cat on a
hot tin roof. Policemen are not immune
to these toxic chemicals. They could
effect their split second judgment, with
the use of deadly force and even their
behavior. Just as steroid abuse can cause
rages, known as "Roiding".

......

End of excerpts.

A peer reviewed journal is cited and linked in with regard to environmental toxic chemical exposures being the cause of the majority of mental illnesses.

The blog can also be found with the
Google search term;
"suicide homicide biochemistry crime"

FYI; Presently, a rough draft is posted,
Suicide - Homicide and the Biochemistry of Crime.
It is independent research by The Toxic Reverend

Title of the article cited in the blog is:

Volume 115, Number 8, August 2007

Their "general conclusion" (in the
above article) is that mental illness
is not "so genetic" and most likely
due to toxic chemical exposures.....

I blame the judicial system, Anyone in Ca can go out and k I ll a bunch of people and then say things like “I was molested”, “I played video games”,” my dog told me to do it” and there will always be an attorney and perhaps a sympathetic jury that will allow you to avoid the worst punishment.
The death sentence need to be carried out quickly and televised so the younger generation will know what awaits them when they make bad decisions. Currently the death penalty is a joke, you will likely die of old age before you are put down for the crimes you committed.
Tragically some innocent people will be unjustly convicted and also put to death but some innocent people will also die in auto accidents and other human mistakes. If a few innocent lives need to be taken so the rest of humanity can live mostly in peace people need to accept that.

Did I miss something? This topic is about the game Grand Theft Auto, not about illegal immigrants. Did you think they were the same topic?

I think you've posted in the wrong area...

Do some REAL parenting and figure out how YOU can better influence your child, instead of wasting time you could be using to raise the child on what and who to blame.

Personally, I think subjecting young children to violent games is negligent. Young children are still developing the neurons and pathways in their brains, and lack the developmental and emotional maturity to decipher what is appropriate behavior or not. Plus, the desensitization of violence is alarming.

Children should be involved in physical activites, reading books, painting, playing music, or a program that enriches their core personalities, and academic abilities. Not sitting in front of a video game slaughtering others for fun while ingesting tons of trans fat snacks and coke. Take a look around at our young, and think twice before parking a child in front of the TV or a video game for hours on end. We are becoming a withdrawn and unhealthy society.

GTA IV has what to do with "Green Living"? Or is the question rooted in all the green money that Rockstar Games is hauling every quarter with their immensely successful GTA series of games?

Of course the games are to blame. Just like wine is to blame for people being drunk. And cars for drunk driving crashes and drive by shootings. God forbid that there should be any personal accountability.

And why isn't the State keeping everyone safe from everything like the progressives in power promise?

Lordy, we need to get the old forum back. This one sucks big brown horse apples.
