Yes, and yet you continue to trust the judgement of Leftists. They never give you your money's worth, just look at all their laws and policies that keep costing us more and more.

I never said we got our money's worth for the leftists, I was merely replying to your comment of PRESIDENTS getting a raise.

Go back and read the comments CAREFULLY, if that's not too much of a struggle for you.

First Lady Mrs. Bush had 18 people.

MICHELLE OBAMA has 22+ - depending on where you read. I've read that it's up to 26 people!

And the list did not include her hair PEOPLE. She's got more than one hairdresser working on her and YES IT IS AT PUBLIC EXPENSE!

Actually FOX had a report on this the other day, that she pays for it out of her pocket.

She pays for it out of her own pocket so I have no beef, yea its a bit much, but it's her own money.

Thx for the clarification. I'm actually relieved that she is paying for her own hairdressers.

“The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it”
—Albert Einstein

“In my own life, in my own small way, I have tried to give back to this country that has given me so much,” she said. “See, that’s why I left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service, “ Michelle Obama

No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn’t perform any official duties. But this hasn’t deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession. Just think Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary.

How things have changed! If you’re one of the tens of millions of Americans facing certain destitution, earning less than subsistence wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart or serving up McDonald cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and then come to realize that the benefit package for these servants of Miz Michele are the same as members of the national security and defense departments and the bill for these assorted lackeys is paid by John Q. Public:

1. $172,2000 - Sher, Susan (CHIEF OF STAFF)
2. $140,000 - Frye, Jocelyn C. (DEPUTY ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR OF POLICY AND PROJECTS FOR THE FIRST LADY)
3. $113,000 - Rogers, Desiree G. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND WHITE HOUSE SOCIAL SECRETARY)
4. $102,000 - Johnston, Camille Y. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE FIRST LADY)
5. Winter, Melissa E. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF TO THE FIRST LADY)
6. $90,000 - Medina, David S. (DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF TO THE FIRST LADY)
7. $84,000 - Lelyveld, Catherine M. (DIRECTOR AND PRESS SECRETARY TO THE FIRST LADY)
8. $75,000 - Starkey, Frances M. (DIRECTOR OF SCHEDULING AND ADVANCE FOR THE FIRST LADY)
9. $70,000 - Sanders, Trooper (DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF POLICY AND PROJECTS FOR THE FIRST LADY)
10. $65,000 - Burnough, Erinn J. (DEPUTY DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY SOCIAL SECRETARY)
11. Reinstein, Joseph B. (DEPUTY DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY SOCIAL SECRETARY)
12. $62,000 - Goodman, Jennifer R. (DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF SCHEDULING AND EVENTS COORDINATOR FOR THE FIRST LADY)
13. $60,000 - Fitts, Alan O. (DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF ADVANCE AND TRIP DIRECTOR FOR THE FIRST LADY)
14. Lewis, Dana M. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT AND PERSONAL AIDE TO THE FIRST LADY)
15. $52,500 - Mustaphi, Semonti M. (ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY PRESS SECRETARY TO THE FIRST LADY)
16. $50,000 - Jarvis, Kristen E. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT FOR SCHEDULING AND TRAVELING AIDE TO THE FIRST LADY)
17. $45,000 - Lechtenberg, Tyler A. (ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF CORRESPONDENCE FOR THE FIRST LADY)
18. Tubman, Samantha (DEPUTY ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR,SOCIAL OFFICE)
19. $40,000 - Boswell, Joseph J. (EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE CHIEF OF STAFF TO THE FIRST LADY)
20. $36,000 - Armbruster, Sally M. (STAFF ASSISTANT TO THE SOCIAL SECRETARY)
21. Bookey, Natalie (STAFF ASSISTANT)

Well, turnabout is fair play.

From About.com: URBAN LEGENDS

Analysis: True enough, if you count the White House Social Secretary and her various deputies, First Lady Michelle Obama has a paid staff of at least 22 people, according to the 2009 Annual Report to Congress on White House Staff.

However, this politically motivated screed overstates the case when it characterizes Michelle Obama's staff as "attendants" and "lackeys" who "cater to her every whim." It further exaggerates when it refers to the total number of staffers as "unprecedented."

Nearly all of these positions were established during previous administrations.

For example, First Lady Laura Bush oversaw a staff of 18 (not "one," as alleged in the email) during 2008, the final year of the George W. Bush administration, with positions and salaries roughly comparable to those in the Obama White House:

First Lady Laura Bush Staff & Salaries 2008

1. $172,200 - McBride, Anita B (Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff to the First Lady)

2. $147,500 - Medina, Sonya E (Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy and Director of Projects for the First Lady)

3. $113,000 - Zantzinger, Amy S (Special Assistant to the President and White House Social Secretary)

4. $102,000 - Armstrong, Sara W (Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff to the First Lady)

5. $102,000 - Niemiec, Sally M (Special Assistant to the President and Director of Communications and Press Secretary to the First Lady)

6. $88,500 - Miller, Sonja Maria (Deputy Chief of Staff to the First Lady

7. $78,400 - Ballard, Deanna M (Director of Scheduling for the First Lady)

8. $63,000 - McArthur, Nikki L (Speech Writer for the First Lady)

9. $62,700 - Knutson, Lindsey L (Special Assistant and Personal Aide to the First Lady)

10. $62,400 - Marshall, Misty C (Director of Correspondence for the First Lady)

11. $57,500 - Adams, Julie E (Deputy Press Secretary to the First Lady)

12. $53,000 - Mende, Kirstin M (Deputy Director of Policy and Projects for the First Lady)

13. $52,200 - Thornton, Dorothy M (Deputy Social Secretary)

14. $52,200 - Etter, Marisa Leigh (Deputy Director of Scheduling for the First Lady)

15. $52,200 - King, Kristin N (Deputy Director of Advance for the First Lady)

16. $47,000 - Segura, Millicent (Deputy Director of Correspondence for the First Lady)

17. $43,000 - Miller, Kasdin E (Assistant Press Secretary to the First Lady)

18. $41,800 - O'Connor, Erin M (Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff to the First Lady)

Yes, a lie told often becomes the truth. Like the truth that the First Lady never had a budget until November 2, 1978, when public law 95-570 was signed by none other then Democrat President James Earl Carter.

Huh, both Democrats. How is that for history?

A REPUBLICAN MAJORITY CONGRESS (HOUSE AND SENATE) and Clinton approved of the pay increase.

It resulted in a value of $487,000 a year in compensation when compared to the 2009 dollar.

However, when Nixon raised the compensation in 1969 from $100,000 to $200,000, it increased the compensation in 2009 dollars to $1,175,000. An amount that went from almost double the current compensation value to nearly triple.

Also, going back even further, Taft, a republican, raised annual compensation from $50,00 to $75,000, which amounted to an increase in compensation in 2009 dollars to $1,714,000 a year.

$400,000 dollars a year for the crap they have to endure seems like a bargain by comparison, whether it's Bush or Obama.

Perhaps you should read mine. I actually agree that we should not have given the President a raise. But, Bush did not give himself a raise. And Clinton gave Bush a raise even though he knew there was a damn good chance Bush was going to be President and not Al Gore.

So, it is his judgement on the issue that I am calling into question, not yours. Unless you support Democrats who have a long history of such mistakes. Much longer then Republicans, a party which has been around longer then the Democrats.

Perhaps I could have worded it better, but that is my point. If you support Democrats you are supporting bad judgement in most cases.

I would not want that job. As a man of conscience, I would have a terrible time making some of the decisions required, especially regarding military operations.

Well then will agree to disagree, but there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans and if you think there is than the Bush years should of been very successful.

I agree that there is little difference between Democrats and some Republicans. However, I have been paying strict attention for the last 16 years and the Republicans have not lied as much as the Democrats.

The Republicans have lost their way, to be sure. Which is exactly why you are seeing conservative party candidates bump them off of ballots back east.

If Conservative prinicples are adhered to in Fiscal matters of this country, we are successful. This is not true of liberal principles.

Yes, there is.

I've never seen Republicans distribute, at their party meetings, literature of our nation's enemies. Democrats do it all the time. Barack Obama's own church, home of hate-filled rants against the USA and white people, published the Hamas Manifesto in its newsletter. And let's not forget the Communist banner on Obama's campaign office wall.

You won't see that cr*p among Republicans.

Grass-roots Republicans stick up for America.

Democrats want to "change" it - to see it torn down.

There is a huge difference.

As for the Bush years...

When GW Bush got into office amid Democrat cries of "recession" and "a new Great Depression" and all that - he had the Justice Department hunt down and prosecute corrupt CEOs who were messing up the nation's economy. He allowed taxpayers to have back some of their own money in proportion to what they paid, which heavily favored job-creators.

It worked. The economy turned around and did just fine until Democrats got back in control of Congress a few years back.

Obama inherited a new Democrat-created recession and did exactly the opposite of Bush. He seized OUR MONEY and stuffed it in the pockets of the crooked CEOs who created the mess. He seized OUR MONEY and gave it to people who are NOT job creators but are merely open hands looking for handouts.

Predictably, the success of Bush's approach has been inverted by Obama's opposite approach.

Way to ignore my post. Fuuny, how the cjc was screaming for me to post in a civil manner and when I do they vanish.

Why don't you address the issue of Republican presidents raising their compensation, huh?

Cause it doesn't fit your propaganda rant?

I haven't vanished. I appreciate that you are posting in a civil manner.

I just don't have an opinion on the issue of raising their own salaries except for this - that power should be given to no person except the OWNER of something like a private corporation. But, our congresscritters don't own us and don't own their jobs.

They should be forced to put salary increases ON THE BALLOTS.

Then let's see them clean up their acts.

Is there good reason to believe that would not work?

Actually, if you are looking at the history, Clinton attempted to change it once before and was rebuffed by Congress, until the end of his second term.

And yes, I happen to agree with you that for the crap that Bush had to endure he deserved the $400,000 a year, so did Clinton actually.

I voted for Bill in his first term. But when you lie and raise taxes as fast as he did, after saying, "It's the economy stupid," and berating GHW Bush for raising taxes and promising he wouldn't, he and the Democrat Party lost me forever, I will never return. Their history is very, very tainted.
