plinker500,

Unfortunately the story you posted is an urban myth, I too wanted to believe in the article because it’s so compelling, but after a little research I quickly discovered it was made up. I was researching the article because I wanted to have an actual news link, (when I post information on the web I always research) at first I could not find the link which I thought that was strange then I discovered there was no supporting evidence for the story. I guy at work actually told me about it and he was surprised when I told him it was fake.

Shotgun preteen vs. illegal alien Home Invaders,
Butte, Montana, November 5, 2006

Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11 year old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home.

It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine.

Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun.

Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old's knee crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals.

When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive.

It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen .45 caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest.

Ever wonder why [this sort of story] never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news....

Seems ocliflex1234 has already debunked these lawyers attempt at spreading more misinformation about illegal aliens.

We must remember that tlynch’s link was for the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Can we rteally trust these guys to tell us the truth?

Top 5 immigration myths:

#1: Enforcement only-policies are a practical solution to illegal immigration.

True and False. Laws must be enacted to stop the giveaways, to eliminate the reason these illegals are coming here in the first place.

#2: Immigrant workers suppress the wages of American workers.

True. The first question should be which immigrants, the legal or illegal. Also, what might have been true in the past is lost to the fact that illegals are not competing for higher paying jobs. Go into a fast food restaurant and you will be served by an unskilled Hispanic. Work in the trades and construction and you will be overwhelmed by the number of Hispanic workers competing for these higher paying jobs.

The illegals come here, mostly poor, uneducated and unskilled. They are flooding the work force with cheap labor.

#3: The nation spends billions of dollars on welfare for undocumented immigrants (aliens)

True and False: Although the nation might not spend it all on the illegal aliens, it does spend it on the mothers and children of these illegals.

#4: Undocumented Immigrants might be more likely to commit crimes than native born citizens.

True: Every one of them has committed a crime by just coming here.

In 2002, 93.2% of prisoners were male. About 10.4% of all black males in the United States between the ages of 25 and 29 were sentenced and in prison, compared to 2.4% of Hispanic males and 1.3% of white males.

In 2005, about 1 out of every 136 U.S. residents was incarcerated either in prison or jail. The total amount being 2,320,359, with 1,446,269 in state and federal prisons and 747,529 in local jails.

It is estimated that currently 27% of federal prison inmates are "criminal aliens", noncitizens convicted of crimes while in this country legally or illegally.

At this rate, almost 1 in 3 of every illegal male immigrant will be in prison.
#5: Immigrants don’t assimilate into society:

Is that why we see them wrapped up in Mexican Flags during immigration marches?

tlynch,

Sure anyone can print stats to support their point of view look below for the REAL holes in your stats.

Top Five Immigration Myths

MYTH #1: Enforcement-only policies are a practical solution to the problem of
undocumented immigration.
__________________
It’s simple we round them up and put them on cargo trains. We increase the length of current train tracks to go right to the border, The beauty of this is there are train tracks all over the US. Trains are relatively cheap to run, and will move allot of weight.

MYTH #2: Immigrant workers suppress the wages of American workers.
_________________________
Do you know who picked the agriculture fields prior to WWII? I know you don’t, research it and then you will know the truth.

Myth #3 The nation spends billions of dollars on welfare for undocumented
immigrants.
_________________________
So it’s just a coincidence that all the hospitals that are closing are in areas of high illegal alien populations? And their average of 4 anchor babies soak up the tax money like no other. Ask someone who works in the welfare Dept and they will tell you, many of the parents do not receive assistance but the kids do. Anchor babies are quickly bankrupting all the free services. (not only this but the illegals send 24 billion home to mexico every year, sure this 24B stokes the mexican economy but how does this help the US get out of the recession?

MYTH #4: Undocumented immigrants are more likely to commit crimes than
native-born citizens.
_______________________
Are you nuts? Ok so in Sonoma County gang crime is the biggest concern and over 89% of the registered gang members are mexican, either illegals or anchor babies. If you got rid of all the mexican gang members there would not even be enough gang members left to have a gang task force. And you want me to believe this is only happening in Santa Rosa? Nice try, but I’m allot smarter than that.

MYTH #5: Immigrants don’t “assimilate” into U.S. society.
_______________________
Perhaps you can explain to me why during the first pro illegal alien mach almost everyone had a mexican flag? The organizers actually had to tell them to bring American flags and leave the mexican ones at home.

Or perhaps you can explain why I have to push 1 for English if I call the police or any other service that has a voice mail service. Funny I thought the first part of assimilation was to learn the language of the country you live in.

Get a clue about the realities of illegal immigration from a Third World country on a mass scale. True if all the illegals were college graduates and had the utmost standards of living and raising children they would be a benefit not a burden. Truth is almost all of them only have a 4th grade education and they are only interested in making money however they can, and if that means selling drugs that is what they will do, what would a person with only a fourth grade education have to lose anyway?

This topic is simple:

1. Illegal immigrants, are, well, ILLEGAL. Period.

2. You break the law in America, there's usually a consequence.

3. You disrespect our country you illegally live in/snuck into, demand we pay your way, and insult us with your flag, go home.

4. Want to become a legal citizen, and respect your new land and neighbors? Welcome to America!

When in Rome...

Saunterelle, Don't get too excited about tlynch's linked myths. Authored by the Immigration Lawyers Association? I wonder if the information might have a certain slant to it? Just as I might suspect a report authored by the Minutemen might have a certain slant.

If you really want to prove a point, you can certainly find enough actual fact and twisted fact to make a good argument, as the lawyers appeared to have done. I don't have time to discuss the whole thing, but I found a few gems.

Myth #1 (about enforcement only policies or sealing the border) "As a 2006 report from the Pew Hispanic Center notes, there were 14.6 million people in families headed by undocumented immigrants as of March 2005, including 3.1 million U.S.-citizen children and 1.8 million undocumented children, as well as adult family members who are legally present in the United States. Attempting to deport all undocumented immigrants would therefore disrupt entire families and communities and decimate industries that depend heavily on immigrant workers, both legal and undocumented."

You see how they actually use the 3.1 million anchor babies in favor of their argument? And "disrupt entire families" by deporting the illegals? I don't see how. Their family members can go with them. No disruption there.

And take myth #5, assimilation into society. I'm all for celebrating your culture, but when you live 20 to a house and your front yard becomes kitchen, laundry room, parking lot, and auto repair facility, not to mention farmyard (yes, I mean roosters), then you have not assimilated. If you haven't seen this for yourself, you should wander into areas of the city you haven't been to.

Then they cite this: "A 2007 study by the Pew Hispanic Center found that among “adult first-generation Latinos, just 23% say they can carry on a conversation in English very well. That share rises sharply, to 88%, among the second generation of adults, and to 94%
among the third and higher generations.”
According to a 2003 study from the RAND Corporation, “2nd and 3rd-generation
Hispanic men have made great strides in closing their economic gaps with native
whites. The reason is simple: each successive generation has been able to close the
schooling gap with native whites which then has been translated into generational
progress in incomes."

It only takes 40 to 60 years for Hispanic men to "close the gaps"?

Only 23% can carry on a conversation in English? Why not learn the language even a little bit BEFORE you come here? But 2nd generation is 88% and 3rd generation and later is 94%. This is good???? After a "family" has been here for 40+ years, and 2 generations have been BORN here, there are still 6% who can't carry on a conversation in English? Why is this do you suppose? Maybe only Spanish is spoken at home because they have not assimilated? But the lawyers actually use these statistics in a positive way.

I find it especially interesting that you begin your agreement with what tlynch posted by saying "If that information is correct". I'm guessing that you read it, and even you can see the possibility of some slant.

I was born and raised in a little town of this State. My Mom a legal American from birth was very proud of her genetic heritage. Somewhat of a snob about her 20/20 vision, excellent voice etc. She married my Dad, a Mexican involved in the "Bracero" program of World War II. Together they migrated from Texas to CA. They raised us to be active committed citizens with pride in our Homeland (USA). They died younger than they should have because they did not get to live out their age expectancy. Both of them very healthy for their 70's. I feel guilt that I wasn't a better steward of their health. I feel cheated for their wisdom in my and my sibs lives. They were excellent humans although neither had a decent education. They kept their vows to each other. They still are a stellar example to me. My Dad refused to renounce his Mexican Citizenship. My Mother never became a Mexican citizen.

tlynch, WOW! If that information is correct it contradicts all of the arguments these posters have made about illegal immigration. It really leaves them with no foundation to stand on for their argument. It especially puts to rest elberethe's "illegal immigrants are violent and dangerous" presumption.

"eleberethe:...thank you for one of the most intelligent posts I have seen you make so far.

None of the things you said terribly surprise me. And thank you for the appreciation you claim to have for my service. (I do believe you there)I appreciate everybody's opinion, even when it doesn't seem like it.

To answer one question.....A long time ago their was this guy named Hitler.....He was an extremist. He practiced things that without some degree of craziness, would never have been accpetable to modern society. When I read things like "They are invading us" or "They hate us" it makes me ponder. When you tell people that we are "at war" I am not sure that you realize the gravity of your statement. This reminds me of a high school environment where somebody is trying to have a rally to get people excited about things they don't understand. That practice is dangerous in my view. Maybe it wasn't fair to draw such a conslusion, but you have made other posts saying that people should take us on, because we would win. That is a dangerous practice. George Jr. tried that, and look how well it has worked for him.

We don't live in a place where all people think exactly the same way. You are making general assumptions about a group of people that simply isn't accurate. I am not saying that you are wrong about some. But you ARE wrong about the majority.

Many take advantage of us. This is absolutely true. I have said that we should make it less comfortable for those people. But you can't assume that they all think that way. It just isn't the case. If you work in the court system, maybe you have a slanted perspective? Maybe you think that the only Mexicans are dirty, rotten bastards who go out of their way to break laws? I don't know, but it seems possible.

The point that I have tried to make, several times now, is that what is needed is a well organized, non hate based, PLAN! Americans need to accept the reality that is upon us. You say that you work in the court system. I am not sure what that means. That's okay. But if you, for example, watched a jury try to come to a conclusion? You can't get 12 people to agree on much, ever. So, are you going to get an entire nation to agree that all border jumpers should be removed? It simply is not practical.

I do not claim to have the answer. I have some ideas, but I don't know if they would work. I am a common man. I wonder how we would get a nation, with all the politics included, to agree on any plan of any kind?

My first post stated that we have a problem. I tried to convey the idea that we need to have a well thought out, comprehensive plan to deal with the problem. What I got from that was that I was a "liberal fool". Building fences is not the answer. Putting them on a buss South is not the answer. (they will just come back) Maybe we need to adjust national policy to make staying in Mexico palatable? Just a thought.

The problem lies in our elected officials. They do not think about these problems in a practical manner. Of the three that are currently likely, none are worth a damn. I hope that we get somebody worth something in this country before it's too late.

I challenge you to start thinking in terms of what is practical and realistic. I don't mean to insult you, but what you have offered so far is neither of those. How do we deal with millions of border jumpers? How do we deal with hundreds of billions of dollars they cost the tax payers every year? How do we get a solution to this problem?

I listen to radio programs. I read the news and blogs on the internet. This information should be taken with a grain of salt. It is baised. The world runs on money. Money controls quality of life. Start there, the answer lies within.
