It might be a poll, but a poll does reflect the voice of the people and the lame duck President Bush doesn't know what to do now. After "Mission Accomplished", so-called spreading democracy to Iraq, many lies to get to this point, he is now the most unpopular president in history. Do I feel sorry for him? no
Mission not so accomplised. "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." Dr. Martin Luther King |

Our mission was accomplished in Germany in 1945, we are still there. Ditto for ***an.
We rebuilt both countries. And are still there. subjoe Justice Robert H. Jackson - It is not the function of the government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error. |

mink says, "he is now the most unpopular president in history"
really? by who's standard? your comment only emphasizes the fact that liberals think the presidency is a popularity contest. perhaps instead of by election the next president should compete on an american idol type show. Interesing experiment, New Guy.
Makes me want to dig up all the hate speech the fascist libs use against conservatives and see how many of those get censored. And who says that the presidential campaign isn't a contest like American idol? It is just that it travels around the country rather than being in a studio. subjoe Justice Robert H. I knew this topic would get a reaction
It's just a poll, mind you but a topic that reflects our current situation. Bush has been bordering this position of unpopularity nose-to-nose with Nixon for awhile now and it is just a matter of time(for some) before it is truly accepted. He is a loser! Subdjoe, how is Germany & ***an comparable to Bush's war? Anyway, I find TNG's experiment interesting too. What the heck is up with that! How do they expect us to exchange opinions? Why is the country of ***an being *****????!!!! "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." Dr. Martin Luther King |

i shudder to think what may be hiding under those *****'s, mink!
i guess we'll just have to refer to people from ***an as Yaps! "Broad-minded is just another way of saying a fellow's too lazy to form an opinion" --Will Rogers-- |

Mink, the comparison is because I have noticed that those who point to that stupid photo (which his handelers should have known would come back to haunt him) usually whine Why are we still there if the mission is accomplished?
By that reasoning, we should have been out of europe right after VE day. And out of ***an (I'll be damned if I will give in and start censoring part of words, or names of countries, to satisfy some auto censor set up by a professional victim who wants to be offended by everything) after VJ day. Not spent a sou to rebuild, just left the people to their own resources. Should we have gone into Iraq the way we did? Probably not. Better to have sent in a good sniper team, or maybe hired the Mosad to do the job. But, we are there. We need to help them rebuild - but it shouldn't be Halyburton or Bectel exclusive contracts. And have fair bidding on the jobs. But, I guess you think that we should say "Sorry, you are on your own now, have fun." Now, let's see how many of these get censored out: redneck, cracker, homophobe, racist, hillbilly, misogynist, bigot. (edited to add - gee, looks like they all made it. Those are all hate words that have been used at me by o, so tolerant fascist progressives here in o, so tolerant, inclusive, and diverse Sonoma County) subjoe Justice Robert H. Jackson - It is not the function of the government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error. |

So ..... would Yaps be from Yapan?
I am shocked we can say Mexican. I bet that doesn't long. Just until someone at PD figures out how to add words to the programs data base. Enjoy it while you can. No, I wouldn't say that, but didn't Dick/Bush say the oil would pay for this? The poll does reflect that this ill-managed war has taken its' toll on the American people, therefore how can we help others when we can't help ourselves? The tax cuts for the ol' so rich could be used, but would they consider it? You tell me? BTW, what's a "misogynist"? I'm too tired to look it up. I was surprised that you could use the word "stupid" when we can't use "idiot".....go figure edited: whoa, did I get away with it or did I lose Karma points? I refer you to people that have given their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ, as Savior and Lord, and then been set free of homosexuality along with many other things. They are living in FREEDOM and LOVING IT! This is what God has to say about it: Romans

C'mon, The New Guy: I was a registered Republican who voted for him twice, so don't think I have a built-in bias. But Bush IS the worst President in history (or at least in our lifetimes). The polls are right, and I'm afraid you are in denial. Just wait until this fall -- the GOP will lose far more offices and seats in Congress than in a normal swing year. And McCain will lose by a landslide; he's this decade's Bob Dole or Michael Dukakis. Americans are not happy with a do-nothing administration, which hasn't even taken the trouble to in the past five years to go after the mastermind of 9-11. I am now totally for Obama and the Democrats, the first in my family in 150 years to switch parties and not vote Republican. |

I'd hardly call the Bush Administration a "do-nothing administration". They've done quite a bit. Just so happens that much of the country (judging by approval ratings) don't agree with the administrations choices.
Look, if the Bush administration had done a better job of managing the GWOT, we might be in a different boat. Had the administration focused on Afghanistan longer, or properly explained the reasons for regime change in Iraq the administration might be viewed in a different light. However, the Iraq War's principles (that of regime change to ensure stability in a region important to US interests) is a really tough sell in this day and age. That principle has been part of US policy for a long time, but usually it was done covertly. Success was hard define. The American people are not prepared or willing to take aggressive action that protects America's interests and allies. I can't necessarily blame them. It's a long and hard road. "No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy."- J.N. Mattis, General, USMC |

Yes, our President has made some serious errors in judgment and I believe history will not be kind, but announcing "Mission Accomplished" was just blatant stupidity.
If I could make the decision concerning our foreign policy, I would bring all our troops home from all over the planet. Plant them every fifty yards along our four borders to protect from further terrorist attacks. This would also solve the illegal immigrant problem and allow us to truly check those who wish to enter the country. I'm also guessing our casualty rate would be minimal for our honored troops. With the added revenue of keeping our troops here, we would also save trillions of dollars and be able to get this country to pay off its debts and regain it's credit standing. Unfortunately, I believe those countries that supply oil to this country have gotten smart and have decided to attack our economy instead. There's nothing stopping them from raising oil to $300 a barrel. I have some ideas for that as well, but I'll save that for another post. |
