RE: Link
Here’s an interesting marketing scheme. A Dutch bank; Rabobank has mostly underwritten the cost of a series of electric charging stations so that the 700 (and growing) Tesla drivers can drive from SF to LA for free. The charging stations are located in the parking lots Rabobanks and are supposedly near shopping and food. I guess they figure that the $4 of electricity it takes to fill up a Tesla to go up to 250 miles is chump change to someone that can afford the $110k price tag of the car and who is likely to drop a lot more $ towards food, shopping and banking in the 30-40 minutes it takes to charge the battery. ________________ “When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less.” “The question is”, said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.” “The question is” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master. That is all”. - Lewis Caroll |

See, private financing will step up when there is a valid market. And if it does pay off, that private financier might just wire up the entire nation for that system, kinda like Bill Gates wired up the entire nation for internet service.

Yeah, pretty good marketing. I've seen spaces with recharging stations in a public garage in SF. Other than that, I don't think I've seen one for people to use. I'll have to bookmark this article so I can use the new stations for my Tesla on my next trip to LA. Thanks. |
