Last night, while I was on the treadmill, I endured an hour of Hannity & Colmes dissecting the current scandal du jur around Rev. Wright and Sen. Obama's clumsy steps to distance himself from this clown. I say, "Enough, already!"
It's obvious that the whole dust storm was started by the Clinton campaign. This thing just smacks of the similar tactics during the 2004 election, when the Dems tried to make an issue of Bush's National Guard service by producing the "fake but accurate" story by Dan Rather. This current issue is the same thing: throwing logs in front of your opponent to keep him off balance and off message. I am not speaking in favor of Sen. Obama - I'm saying that there's a lot of material in his platform and his records, so that we don't need to try to brand him with the views of his pastor. The Senator's views on taxation, foreign relations and gun control could keep us busy right up to the general election. By keeping Rev. Wright on the screen, the Reps are just doing the Clintons' work for them. The point to remember is that what the government gives it must first take away. John S. Coleman |

Let me guess. You are trying to brown nose your way into a PD reporter job.
Clinton is to blame because Obama spent 20 years sitting in the pew of Rev. Wright. He is the one who was married there and had his children baptized there. Clinton didn't even know him then! Wright keeps putting his mug in front of the cameras. What do you want the Clinton's to do? Put him in jail? Blow his head off? Wright can't get enough of his 5 minutes of fame. He will destroy Obama single-handedly and you have the audacity to blame the Clintons? I don't speak in favor of the Clintons but how far up your rear-end can your head be to believe they are to blame for Obama's choices and Wrights hamming it up every chance he gets? Take responsibility, man. To be honest, I'm not interested in the rest of Obama's platform (although I'm already very familiar with it). He is anti-American and running for President of the United States! That is all anyone really needs to know. He is going to say (NOW) he doesn't support the Reverend? He didn't say that when the Rev. first came out. Noooooo! He was supporing him then. It wasn't until the Rev. kept getting back on tv and saying more and more anti-American dogma. NOW, he doesn't support him. Pull the wool off your eyes. Obama isn't the one to bring change that is good for America. He might bring change, but I assure you that it will make the Rev. look like a Sunday school picnic. Obama is LYING to you. Big surprise there. HE IS RACIST, anti-American, and Elitest to boot! That is why he was able to sit in that pew for 20 years. Just THINK about it. Welcome to the forums, elberethe. After you've been around here for a while, you'll find that you've totally mis-characterized me. But, that's OK - you'll learn who the players are.
My point is that I'm getting fed up with rehashing the Rev's speeches. I think that the Clinton machine is doing everything it can to keep this on the front page so that we won't start looking at their respective tax proposals. Both candidates have implicitly proposed billion-dollar tax increases, what with allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire, raising the ceiling on Social Security wages, and spouting off on "Windfall profits taxes." Nothing will kill an economic recovery faster than raising taxes on "the rich." The point to remember is that what the government gives it must first take away. John S. Coleman |

It's quite obvious that you "typical white folks" just don't understand the black people and their black churchs.
Sunday March 23, 2008 "CHICAGO — The new pastor of Barack Obama’s church delivered a defiant defense of its retiring reverend Sunday, comparing media coverage of Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. to a modern-day lynching that resembles Jesus’ death at the hands of the Romans. In a sunrise Easter sermon, Rev. Otis Moss III never mentioned Wright by name, but implied that his mentor, who has delivered sermons in which he likened the U.S. to the Ku Klux Klan and declared it damned for its “state-sponsored terrorism,” is facing the same challenges Jesus did. “No one should start a ministry with lynching, no one should end their ministry with lynching,” Moss said. “The lynching was national news. The RNN, the Roman News Network, was reporting it and NPR, National Publican Radio had it on the radio. The Jerusalem Post and the Palestine Times all wanted exclusives, they searched out the young ministers, showed up unannounced at their houses, tried to talk with their families, called up their friends, wanted to get a quote on how do you feel about the lynching?” he continued. The criticism surrounding Wright has not softened the services at Trinity United Church of Christ, where Obama has been a congregant for 20 years. Instead, Moss defiantly defended their method of worship, referencing rap lyrics to make his point. “If I was Ice Cube I’d say it a little differently — ‘You picked the wrong folk to mess with,’” Moss said to an enthusiastic congregation, standing up during much of the sermon, titled “How to Handle a Public Lynching.” In Easter Sermon, New Obama Pastor Charges Rev. Wright Victim of ‘Lynching’ So enough of Rev. Wright, Anyone know anything about Barack and Michelle Obama's new minister, the Rev. Otis Moss III? |

Hi guys. Thankyou for the welcome. I'm a gal btw. Jgaffney, you are probably right that I mischaracterized you .. I am very judgmental .. my appologies. I also really hate Obama and all the hysteria surrounding him like he is the 2nd coming or something.
Yah, I don't like Clinton either. I really, really don't and I would love to see a female president too. However, I have to vote for her because OMG the idea of Obama even running on the Democratic ticket seriously scares me. This guy is just ... scarey. We really don't know anything about him and coming from a judgmental person that is saying alot. What little we do know, doesn't bode well to me. I started another thread. I am seriously considering crossing the railroad tracks and voting for McCain even if Hillary wins. I don't like him too much either though. Don't get me wrong. I respect both Hillary and McCain. I admire them both actually. Hillary mostly for being the strong woman she is and McCain for what he has sacrificed for his Country. Takes more then that to run a Country though and I don't think either of them can. I just see Obama in a whole other camp. Like the one with the banner that says: Doesn't take much to destroy a Country either! He would seriously be our ruin as if GW wasn't, but, yah. Editted to add: Jgaffney see my new post on inspired by your belief that raising taxes on the rich isn't the answer. I seriously disagree "The moral and constitutional obligations of our representatives in Washington are to protect our liberty, not coddle the world, precipitating no-win wars, while bringing bankruptcy and economic turmoil to our people." --Ron Paul |
