The "downtown enforcement team" needs to cool off a little with their frivolous ticket writing.

Simple solution, don't do things against the law then you won't have issues with the police.

Better solution: Stay away from downtown, Santa Rosa government is anti citizen.

MM3 I think the other people are talking about the SRPD ticketing the undesirables in downtown, ie, the skateboarders, marijuana smokers, gang members, drug dealers, etc, in downtown.

Ill go into detail later when i have time. These guys harass everyone equally, myself included (a clean cut good citizen of this broken town). My job takes me in and around downtown everyday. The stuff i see them do disgusts me. Ill take some notes today. late for my 12 hr shift...

I haven't been downtown for a couple of years but was there this afternoon. I had to drop off a family member for an appointment and sat in the car for over an hour.

There was a bunch of kids, they looked to be 17 - 23 age group, walking around in a group. They all had white t shirts on like it was their gang colors. They didn't overtly do anything wrong but I noticed some of the merchants looked nervous when they were around.

I didn't see any police presence at all, not even a meter maid. Even though I didn't see a meter maid I put 2 quarters in a meter for the car next to me because it kept expiring and I didn't want SR to get the 30 bucks.

If these bike cops are there to clean up the drunks and druggies and bangers thats awesome. If they are there for revenue that is another thing. If they are indeed there for the losers they aren't doing a very good job because it seems that they have a free run.

I know what you mean. There's definitely a riff raff presence down there that isn't being stopped. I know part of it is the ACLU civil rights laws, and the other part is the SR City Council is Anti Police Force. Remember that trumped up trial that Mayor Susan did to the LAST police chief to dump him?

These people that run SR are the most leftwing lunatics ever.

The SRPD as you may recall, was on Humboldt Ave talking to the bicyclists. We don't have a lot of police in the town, and that order had to come from on high INSTEAD of being downtown where they are sorely needed.

Jcatjake: What frivolous tickets did you see them write?

MM3: If you think the police aren't doing a good job, let them know.

Jcatjake: What frivolous tickets did you see them write?

1. 70 yr old disabled homeless lady ticketed for smoking outside the library clearly past the 20' boundry marked by a red line ($180)

2. A Taxi driver at the transit mall had part of his bumper in the red zone while picking someone up off goldengate transit ($40)

3. A commuter on his motorcycle flagged down by head bike cop sgt Celli at eastbound 3rd and D. (He was there giving a bicyclist a ticket for riding on the sidewalk). The motorcyclist was told that it looked like he was going to fast and was handed a ticket for going 40 in a 30. (After 20 minutes of warrent checks etc.)
That ticket will obviously never hold up in court, but what a waste of time/money for everyone involved.

Its not just the tickets that bug me.

Their attitude stinks they are in your face mean roided out thugs (for the most part)

they ride around in packs crackin jokes with each other.
Ive seen them yell and scream at working class citizens over petty issues many many times.
They detain and illegally search teenagers (usually for smoking) making them cry and miss their bus.
Whenever a legit crime happens at the transit mall they are nowhere to be found (prob having breakfast/lunch together at macs deli) The sono sheriffs get called for backup alot.

Ask a county sheriffs dep opinion of an SR bike cop. Im not alone here.

protect and serve my ass.

they are tax collectors with guns...

Hey TheSmartGuy read my 2nd post. I'm not gonna say what I do for a living, but because of my job I spend a lot of my time watching them and I've talked to a lot of their victims. Heres another example, I know a lady who's life is ruined because she let a bike cop ticket for "excessive horn honking" slip. (warrant ,suspended license , jail, impounded car, massive fines...)

Disliking OVERZEALOUS Policing in no way makes one a "Police Hater".

If you cannot admit openly that a GOOD NUMBER and probably a MAJORITY of "LEO's" are a bit Overzealous I'm not sure I could ever take you seriously again.

It's fairly common knowledge man.

See any of the G20 protest footage?

Wow "Skateboarders" are in your book "undesirables".....

You are kidding right?

As skateboarding is a great ATHLETIC SPORT, so in essence according to YOU ,athletes are now undesirable, because an out of touch crotchety old guy doesn't understand the sport.... wow wow wow.
