It isn't just that everything works fine like it is now (although it does), but basically, this is an expense we do not need when our schools are being cut funding and we are in a recession.

if this thing happens you can bet your ass that it will be at the expense of homeowners. just watch your property taxes go up a tick or two to cover the bill. if SR wants to redo the square then they should conduct a real good audit of city operations and cut the fat. i'm sure there's plenty of that already in the budget.

THERE IS A SPECIFIC DEFINITION OF A RECESSION...2 QUARTERS OF NEGATIVE GROWTH..CURRENTLY THE COUNT IS 0
now wait a minute - we can't build a casino because of traffic....how many lanes are there downtown? and, we want to build (or sorry) rebuild an area for performances? does anyone rememebr the time before the transit mall? were you would connect to other bus lines at Courthouse Square? I think the reason for the transit mall was to lessen the traffic impact of to many people in and out of Courthouse Square...the fact of the matter is the people of Sonoma County are slow to react, the freeway should have been widened 10 years ago, by the time it;s done we will need another lane.
